FIRST NOVEMBER EXPRESS DRAW: 733 ADVERTISING INVITATIONS SENT
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has just completed its first November Express Entry draw, sending out 733 invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence (PR).
This system targets candidates in all Express Entry categories who have a provincial nomination from one of Canada’s provinces and a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 812 or higher.
The CRS selection threshold increased by 21 points compared to the previous round of invitations reserved for provincial nominees, on October 21, 2024.
Canadian Immigration: Focus on Canada
The 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan reflects Canada’s evolving immigration priorities, with a greater focus on candidates already in Canada. This approach prioritizes pathways and policies that benefit people already in Canada, including temporary residents seeking permanent residence.
This initiative is part of a broader immigration strategy to address persistent labour shortages, support economic growth, and promote integration by providing established residents with easier pathways to permanent settlement.
Transitioning Temporary Residents to Permanent Status: Recognizing the skills and contributions of international students, temporary foreign workers, and other temporary residents, the 2025-2027 plan is expected to increase funding for programs such as the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) under Express Entry.
These programs prioritize individuals with Canadian work experience or training, preparing them for a smooth transition into the labour market and society.
By targeting individuals already in Canada, the plan supports critical sectors facing labour shortages, such as health care, technology, construction, and manufacturing.
The “Canada-focused” approach ensures that these individuals can make a seamless transition and fill essential roles without requiring additional settlement or orientation support.
How do Express Entry draws work?
The Express Entry system is used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to process applications for permanent residence from skilled workers.
After creating an online profile, applicants are assessed based on criteria such as their education level, work experience, and language skills.
Applicants with the highest scores are invited to submit an application for permanent residence.
To be eligible for Express Entry, applicants must meet the requirements of one of the federal economic immigration programs.
